I wanted to paint from life, however I couldn't summon up the courage to go out and paint on this below zero January morning. I peaked out my back window and the birch my husband planted for me several years before, looked quite stunning in the snow. This "plein air" was done sitting on our family room couch, safe and snug with a fire going, looking out the back window.
